Adding Images and Visual Elements
Images enhance your agreements by adding branding, breaking up text, and providing visual clarification. Understanding how to add and manage images helps you create more engaging, professional agreements.
Why Add Images to Agreements
Company branding:
Add your logo at the top for professional presentation.
Visual explanation:
Diagrams or charts clarify complex terms or processes.
Breaking up text:
Long agreements benefit from occasional visual breaks.
Portfolio samples:
Show examples of deliverables (especially for creative services).
Process illustration:
Flowcharts or timelines help clients understand your workflow.
Trust signals:
Professional images convey established, credible business.
Image Sections vs. Images in Text
Image sections:
Standalone sections dedicated to displaying a single image. Most common and recommended.
Inline images (if supported):
Images embedded within text sections. Not all editors support this.
This article focuses on image sections.
Adding an Image Section
- Click Add Section
- Select Image from the section types
- A new image section appears
The section is empty until you upload an image.
Uploading an Image
Method 1: Click to Upload
- Click Upload Image or Choose File
- Browse your computer’s files
- Select an image file
- Image uploads and appears in the section
Method 2: Drag and Drop
- Drag an image file from your computer
- Drop it onto the image section

Supported formats:
JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), PNG (.png), GIF (.gif), and possibly others (WebP, SVG).
File size:
Systems typically limit file size (2-10 MB). Optimize images for web to ensure fast loading.
Optimizing Images for Agreements
Resolution:
1920px wide maximum is sufficient for most screens. Larger images waste bandwidth.
File size:
Aim for under 500 KB per image. Use compression tools:
- TinyPNG.com
- ImageOptim (Mac)
- Online compressors
Format choice:
- JPEG – Photos, complex images, gradients
- PNG – Logos, graphics with transparency, sharp text
- GIF – Simple graphics, small file size (limited colors)
Aspect ratio:
Consider how the image will display. Wide images work well; very tall images require scrolling.
Replacing an Image
To change an image:
- Hover over or click the image section
- Click Replace, Change Image, or Upload New
- Select a new image file
- Old image is replaced
Removing an Image
To remove an image from the section:
- Click Remove or Delete Image
- Section becomes empty again
Or delete the entire image section via the section’s Delete button (✕).
Image Styling and Settings
Some systems allow styling:
Alignment:
- Left
- Center (most common)
- Right
Size:
- Full width (spans entire document)
- Custom width (percentage or pixels)
- Auto (original size, up to max width)
Spacing:
- Padding/margins around the image
Border:
- Add borders or shadows (rarely needed)
Access via section Settings, Styles, or Actions menu.
Common Image Section Placements
Header logo:
First section, company logo centered. Sets professional tone.
After introduction:
Visual diagram explaining your process or services.
Mid-document breaks:
Break up long text with relevant images every few sections.
Before signature:
Final branding reinforcement (some businesses do this).
Using Logos
Logo best practices:
- PNG format with transparent background
- High resolution (2x size for Retina displays)
- Reasonable file size (under 200 KB)
- Centered alignment
- Adequate spacing (margin/padding)
Placement:
Typically the first section, above the agreement title or introduction.
Using Diagrams and Charts
Use diagrams for:
- Workflow or process visualization
- Timeline of milestones
- Organizational chart (who’s responsible for what)
- Deliverables breakdown
Creating diagrams:
- Use tools like Lucidchart, Figma, Canva
- Export as PNG or JPEG
- Upload to image section
Image Quality and Professionalism
High-quality images:
- Sharp, clear
- Proper resolution
- Well-composed
- Professional appearance
Avoid:
- Blurry or pixelated images
- Stretched or distorted images
- Amateur snapshots
- Irrelevant stock photos
Quality reflects on your business credibility.
Copyright and Image Rights
Only use images you have rights to:
- Your own photos or designs
- Licensed stock images
- Public domain images
- Images with permission from creator
Do not use:
- Google Images without licensing
- Other companies’ logos or copyrighted work
- Photos you don’t own
Violating copyright in legal agreements is particularly bad optics.
Images on Different Devices
Desktop:
Images display large and clear.
Mobile:
Images scale down automatically. Ensure critical details remain visible when smaller.
Test on mobile:
Preview agreements on your phone to verify images look good.
Image Section Limitations
One image per section:
Each image section holds one image. For multiple images, create multiple image sections.
No galleries or slideshows:
Image sections display static images only.
Limited animation:
Animated GIFs work, but use sparingly in legal documents.
Accessibility Considerations
Alt text (if supported):
Describe the image for screen readers and accessibility compliance.
Example:
Image: Company logo
Alt text: “Acme Design Studio Logo”
Text in images:
Avoid putting critical information solely in images. Screen readers can’t read text within images. Repeat important text in body text sections.
Best Practices
✅ Logo at the top: Professional standard for branded agreements.
✅ Compress images: Keep file sizes small for fast loading.
✅ Use sparingly: 1-3 images is typical. Don’t overdo it.
✅ Center most images: Centered images generally look best in documents.
✅ Ensure relevance: Every image should serve a purpose—branding, explanation, or illustration.
✅ Test on mobile: Ensure images scale well on small screens.
✅ Maintain aspect ratio: Don’t stretch or squish images.
✅ Use high-res for logos: Crisp logos convey professionalism.
