Creating Quick Actions from a Client Page
Quick Actions let you create projects, invoices, proposals, and other records directly from a client’s detail page. Instead of navigating to different sections of Nizam and then selecting the client, everything starts from where you are—making your workflow faster and more intuitive.
Accessing Quick Actions
From any client’s detail page:
- Look for the Quick Actions button on the top right. This is labelled as Create
- Click to reveal the menu
- Select the type of record you want to create
The Quick Actions menu is always accessible from the client page header, no matter which tab you’re viewing.
Available Quick Actions
You can create the following directly from a client page:
Create Task
Add a new task associated with this client—perfect for follow-ups, deliverables, or reminders.
Create Project
Start a new project for this client. The client is automatically linked, and you can begin adding project details immediately.
Create Proposal
Generate a proposal or quote for the client. The client information pre-populates, and you can start building the proposal content.
Create Agreement
Create a contract or agreement. The client is pre-selected, saving you from searching and selecting.
Create Invoice
Generate an invoice for this client. Billing address and client details are automatically included.
Create Recurring Invoice
Set up a recurring invoice schedule for regular billing with this client.
Why Use Quick Actions?
Saves Time:
Instead of navigating to Invoices → New Invoice → Select Client, you go directly from the client page to creating an invoice with the client already selected.
Reduces Errors:
You never risk selecting the wrong client because you’re creating the record from their page.
Maintains Context:
Stay focused on the client you’re working with instead of jumping around different areas of the app.
Streamlines Workflow:
When you’re reviewing a client and realize they need an invoice or proposal, create it immediately without losing your place.
How Quick Actions Work
When you select a Quick Action:
- The creation form opens (either as a slide-out panel or new page)
- The client field is automatically filled with the current client
- Any other fields that can be pre-populated from client data (like billing address) are filled in
- You complete the remaining required fields
- Save the record
The client association is already established, so you never have to search for or select them manually.
After Creating a Record
Once you save a record created through Quick Actions:
- It appears in the relevant tab on the client page (e.g., a new invoice appears in the Invoices tab)
- You can access it from both the client page and the main section (like the Invoices area)
- The record is fully linked to the client
Quick Actions from the Client List
Some Quick Actions are also available directly from the client list without opening the client’s detail page:
- Look for the actions menu (three dots) next to each client in the list
- Common actions like “Create Invoice” or “Create Proposal” may appear here
- This provides even faster access when you know exactly what you need to create
Best Practices
✅ Start from the client: When you know which client you’re creating something for, always start from their client page for fastest access.
✅ Review first: Before using Quick Actions, review the relevant tab to ensure you’re not duplicating an existing record.
✅ Use after client meetings: Following a client call or meeting, open their page and use Quick Actions to immediately create follow-up tasks or project proposals.
✅ Combine with tab navigation: Create an invoice using Quick Actions, then immediately switch to the Invoices tab to verify it appears correctly.
Common Questions
Do Quick Actions create different records than the regular method?
No. Records created via Quick Actions are identical to those created from the main sections. The only difference is the starting point and pre-population of the client field.
Can I change the client after using a Quick Action?
Yes. While the client is pre-selected, you can change it if needed. However, this defeats the purpose of Quick Actions—it’s better to navigate to the record type directly if you’re unsure of the client.
Are Quick Actions available on mobile?
Yes, though the interface may be adapted for smaller screens. The functionality remains the same.
Can I create custom Quick Actions?
Currently, the Quick Actions menu is fixed and includes the standard record types. You can’t add custom actions.
What if I accidentally click the wrong Quick Action?
Simply close the form that opens or click cancel. Nothing is created until you fill out the form and save.
Do all users see the same Quick Actions?
Quick Actions availability may depend on your user permissions. If you don’t have permission to create invoices, for example, that Quick Action won’t appear.
Workflow Examples
Scenario 1: Client Call Follow-Up
- Finish a client call
- Open the client’s detail page
- Use Quick Actions → Create Task to add a follow-up reminder
- Use Quick Actions → Create Proposal if you discussed a new project
Scenario 2: Monthly Invoicing
- Navigate through your client list
- For each client you bill monthly, open their page
- Check Overview dashboard for any outstanding invoices
- Use Quick Actions → Create Invoice to generate the new invoice
- Repeat for the next client
Scenario 3: New Project Kickoff
- Open the client who just signed an agreement
- Use Quick Actions → Create Project to start the project record
- Use Quick Actions → Create Task to add initial project tasks
- Use Quick Actions → Create Invoice if initial payment is due
Quick Actions vs. Tab-Based Creation
Some tabs (like Tasks or Notes) also have a “New” or “Create” button within the tab itself. The differences:
Quick Actions:
- Available from anywhere on the client page
- Covers all record types
- Doesn’t require navigating to the relevant tab first
Tab-Based Creation:
- Only creates the record type for that tab
- May show more context (like existing records) before creating
- Useful when you’re already reviewing that tab
Both methods achieve the same result—use whichever fits your workflow better.
