Creating Pricing Packages and Options

Pricing packages let you present multiple service offerings in a single proposal, allowing clients to compare options and choose what fits their needs and budget. Whether you offer Basic/Pro/Premium tiers or different service bundles, packages make it easy for clients to select and accept.

What Are Pricing Packages?

[Screenshot: Proposal with Items section showing three packages side by side]

Packages are groups of services and products displayed in pricing (Items) sections. Each package contains:

  • A title and description
  • One or more services or products
  • Pricing that calculates automatically
  • Optional selection controls for clients

Think of packages like shopping options: “Pick Package A, B, or C” or “Choose any combination you want.”

Adding an Items Section

Before creating packages, you need an Items section:

  1. In the proposal editor, click Add Section
  2. Select Items section type
  3. The section appears in your proposal
  4. Click into it to start adding packages

You can have multiple Items sections in one proposal if you want to group different types of offerings.

Creating Your First Package

Within an Items section:

  1. Click Add Package
  2. Enter a package title (e.g., “Basic Package” or “Website Design”)
  3. Add a description explaining what’s included
  4. Start adding services or products (covered in next section)

The package appears as a column in your Items section.

Package Structure

[Screenshot: Single package showing title, description, line items, and total]

Each package displays:

  • Title: The package name clients see
  • Description: What’s included or who it’s best for
  • Line items: Services and products with quantities and prices
  • Subtotal: Sum before discounts/taxes
  • Discounts: If applied
  • Taxes: If applicable
  • Total: Final price for the package

Single Package vs. Multiple Packages

Single Package (One Option):

  • “Here’s what we’re proposing”
  • Client sees one price
  • Accept or decline the whole thing
  • Simple, straightforward

Multiple Packages (Several Options):

  • “Choose the package that fits your needs”
  • Basic, Standard, Premium tiers
  • Different service bundles
  • Clients pick their preference

Most proposals with packages have 2-4 options to give clients choice without overwhelming them.

Package Selection Modes

Configure how clients interact with packages:

None (All Packages Selected)

  • All packages are included by default
  • Clients accept everything together
  • No selection controls appear
  • Use when: Presenting a bundled offering or a single comprehensive solution

Single (Choose One)

  • Client must pick exactly one package
  • Radio buttons let them select their choice
  • Only the chosen package is accepted
  • Use when: Offering tier options (Basic/Pro/Premium) where client picks their level

Multiple (Choose Any Combination)

  • Client can select one, some, or all packages
  • Checkboxes let them select multiple
  • All selected packages are accepted together
  • Use when: Offering add-ons or modular services clients can combine

Where to set this: In the Items section settings or package configuration area.

Editing Package Titles and Descriptions

Click into the title or description to edit:

Title best practices:

  • Be descriptive: “Starter Package” is better than “Option A”
  • Keep it brief: 2-5 words
  • Differentiate clearly: “Basic,” “Professional,” “Enterprise”

Description best practices:

  • Explain who it’s for: “Perfect for small businesses”
  • Highlight key benefits: “Includes everything in Basic plus…”
  • Keep it concise: 1-2 sentences

Reordering Packages

[Screenshot: Packages with reordering controls or drag handles]

If you have multiple packages, arrange them logically:

  • Left to right: Least expensive to most expensive
  • Or: Most popular in the middle
  • Or: Recommended option first

Use drag handles or move buttons to rearrange packages within the Items section.

Duplicating Packages

To create similar packages:

  1. Create your first package with all services and pricing
  2. Duplicate it
  3. Modify the title, description, and line items
  4. Adjust pricing or quantities as needed

This saves time when building tiered packages where higher tiers include everything from lower tiers plus more.

Deleting Packages

To remove a package:

  1. Find the package in edit mode
  2. Click the delete or remove button
  3. Confirm the deletion
  4. The package disappears immediately

⚠️ Warning: If clients have already viewed or selected this package, removing it could confuse them. Consider recalling the proposal to Draft before making major changes.

Currency Display

[Screenshot: Package pricing showing currency symbol]

Packages display prices in your proposal’s selected currency. To change currency:

  1. Open proposal Settings
  2. Select a different currency
  3. All packages update to show the new currency

The currency setting is proposal-wide—you can’t mix currencies within one proposal.

Package Design and Layout

Columns:
Packages appear side-by-side as columns, making comparison easy.

Responsive:
On mobile, packages stack vertically so clients can scroll through each option.

Automatic calculations:
Totals, subtotals, taxes, and discounts calculate automatically based on services and products you add.

Best Practices

Offer 2-4 packages: More than 4 can overwhelm clients. Fewer than 2 means no options.

Create a clear winner: If you have a preferred package, highlight it with your description or title (“Most Popular” or “Recommended”).

Progressive pricing: Each tier should feel like a better value, not just more expensive.

Name meaningfully: “Basic/Standard/Premium” works, but industry-specific names can be more engaging (“Starter/Growth/Enterprise”).

Be transparent: List what’s included in each package so clients understand exactly what they get.

Test selection logic: Preview the proposal and test package selection as a client would.

Common Questions

Can I have different packages for different sections?
Yes. Create multiple Items sections, each with its own packages. For example, one section for design packages and another for support packages.

What happens if a client doesn’t select any package?
If selection mode is Single or Multiple, they must select at least one package before they can sign. The system will prompt them.

Can I see which package a client selected?
Yes. Once accepted, the proposal record shows which packages were selected.

Do package selections affect invoicing?
Only if you configure it that way. Selected services and products can be pulled into invoices, but this isn’t automatic.

Can I hide pricing from clients?
No. If you add packages to an Items section, pricing is visible. Don’t add an Items section if you don’t want to show pricing yet.

Can packages include both products and services?
Yes. Each package can contain any mix of services and products.
